  • Be a natural person at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a bona fide resident of Florida.
  • Be a United States citizen or legal alien with a work authorization. Review more information about citizenship requirements.
  • Not be an employee of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or state service office, as referred to in Section 626.833, Florida Statutes.
  • Be fingerprinted. Click here for more information on fingerprinting requirements for both Resident and Non-Resident applications.
  • Complete application and license fees. 
  • Complete a 60 hour approved insurance course for Life and Health.

If you have been licensed by another state, you will need to determine if the state where you were formally licensed reciprocates licenses with Florida. If you need to transfer your license from another state, review information on transferring your license.
